CodeLifter Forum

Terms of use

These terms set out the rules for using the CodeLifter Forum at forum.codelifter.com. By reading or posting on the forum, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the forum.

Who runs the forum

The forum belongs to CodeLifter at codelifter.com. CodeLifter.com was a free cut-and-paste JavaScript library published by CodeBrain.com from about 1999 to 2016, and it was restored in 2026 by independent editors. CodeLifter is not affiliated with CodeBrain.com or with any earlier owner of the domain, and nothing on the forum is offered on their behalf.

Using the forum

You may read the forum freely. To post, you give a display name and an email address, and the browser you post from stays signed in, as described in the privacy policy. You must be old enough to enter into these terms where you live, and in any case at least 13 years old.

Use the forum for its purpose, which is questions and answers about code you did not write yourself and the tools and rules around it. Do not use it to break the law, to disrupt the service, to scrape it at a rate that harms other readers, or to get around its limits and protections. The posting guidelines form part of these terms.

What you agree to when you post

You are responsible for what you post. When you post, you confirm that you have the right to share it, that it does not break the law, and that it follows the posting guidelines. Do not post secrets such as keys, tokens or passwords, other people's private information, code or text you do not have permission to share, or anything designed to deceive, harass or harm.

Licence to your content

You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you give the forum a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and distribute your post as part of the forum, including in search results, feeds, archives and quotations that credit the thread. The licence lets us show your post to other readers and keep it available. It does not let anyone claim to have written it. If you post code that you copied from elsewhere, say where it came from and under which licence, so readers know the terms that apply to it.

Licence for staff answers

Staff answers are written by the CodeLifter editors. They are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by an editor, and they link the documents they rely on. Code in staff answers is released under the MIT licence unless the answer states otherwise. The text of staff answers is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, the same terms as codelifter.com/licence/. You may reuse both under those licences, with credit.

Advice comes with no warranty

Answers on the forum are general information from the editors and from other readers. They are not professional advice, and they are not a guarantee that a prompt, a snippet or a setting will work in your project. Tools and their versions change, and a result that held for one setup may not hold for yours.

Review and test any code before you run it, especially code that touches files, networks, credentials or production systems. Check the licence and the project rules that apply to you before you commit code you did not write. To the extent the law allows, the forum, its editors and its members are not liable for loss or damage that results from following anything posted here.

Moderation

We may edit, hide or remove content, and suspend or close accounts, when content or behaviour breaks these terms or the guidelines. We try to explain what we have done and to hear an appeal, but we may act without notice when a post exposes a secret, exposes personal information or breaks the law.

Posts may link to other websites, including documentation, repositories and the CodeLifter reference site. We do not control other sites and are not responsible for their content. A link is not an endorsement.

The service as it stands

The forum is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and accurate, but we do not promise that it will always be available or that every post is correct or current. We may change features or sections, or close the forum.

Changes to these terms

When we update these terms, we will change the date at the top of this page. By continuing to use the forum after a change, you accept the updated terms. Questions about these terms can be sent to editor@codelifter.com.
