Contact the CodeLifter editors

The way to reach the CodeLifter Forum is by email at editor@codelifter.com. The messages that arrive there are read by the CodeLifter editors, who also run the reference site at codelifter.com. We do not promise a reply time. We read everything, and we deal with leaked secrets and personal information first.

What to send

Tell us which thread or post you mean by pasting its full address from your browser's address bar. Then say what you would like to happen. These are the most common requests.

  • A correction. If an answer is wrong, out of date or relies on a weak source, tell us what is wrong and send the source that shows the right information. A link to the tool's documentation, the project's policy page, the paper or the commit is the most useful thing you can include.
  • A removal request. If a post identifies you or includes information about you that you did not choose to share, send the address of the post. You do not have to explain why you want it removed.
  • A report about a post. If a post breaks the posting guidelines, for example promotion, an off-topic post or a personal attack, send the address and one sentence on what the problem is.
  • A question about the forum. If you are not sure how something works, or something on the site looks broken, tell us what you were doing and what you expected to happen.
  • A request about your data. To see, correct or delete what the forum holds about you, use the subject line "Data request" and write from the email address you used when you posted, so we can match it.

If you posted a secret by mistake

If you pasted an API key, a token, a password or a private URL into a post, treat it as exposed. Revoke or rotate it with the service that issued it first, because a copy may already have been read. Then email us with the subject line "Secret in post" and the address of the post, and we will remove the value. Do not paste the secret into your email.

Please do not send

Please do not use this address for help with your own code. Questions about a prompt, a snippet or a tool belong in the forum, where the answer can be checked and can help the next person with the same problem. If you email a code question, we will probably point you to the right section.

Do not send passwords, keys, tokens or private repository access. We will never ask you for any of them. If a message that claims to come from the forum asks for them, it is not from us.

Code in staff answers is MIT unless stated, and the text is CC BY 4.0, as set out on codelifter.com/licence/. If you want to reuse something and are not sure how to credit it, ask us. If you believe something on the forum copies your work without permission, write with the subject line "Copyright notice". Include the address of the material, a description of your work, your contact details and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised. We review notices and remove material where that is appropriate, and the member who posted it can respond.

About the old library

CodeLifter is restored by independent editors and is not affiliated with CodeBrain.com or any earlier owner. We cannot answer questions on their behalf, but questions about the old scripts themselves are welcome in the Script Shelf section.

Following up

A quiet inbox does not mean your message was ignored. If you have not heard back after a while, send a short follow-up with the original subject line. When we make a correction or a removal, we will tell you what we changed.
